Grown in the Yellow Mountains, this famous tea produces a light yellow infusion with a floral fragrance. Its flavour is sweet with magnolia and orchid notes. 50g


Huangshan Maofeng is consistently in the top 10 lists of finest Chinese tea. It is spring harvested from the Yellow mountain area of East China, which has the perfect climate and humidity for this tea varietal. It produces a deliciously sweet and fragrant tea full of gentle floral notes. Most teas have a legend associated with it. Stories tell of a young woman tea picker who fell madly in love with a local scholar. A wealthy landowner saw this woman picking tea and was mesmerized, so much so that he forced the girl’s parents to make her marry him. The night before the wedding, the woman snuck out of the house to see her scholar love only to find that he had been murdered by the landowner. She found his grave and cried all night until she turned into rain and the first Maofeng tea tree began to grow. The best Maofeng comes from Huangshan in the Anhui province of China. Other Maofeng teas are considered inferior both in terms of the climate for growing as well as the picking and processing of the tea.



Directions:

A teaspoon of tea in about 500ml of hot (not boiling water). Brew for 1-2 minutes then remove leaves (use a ball infuser or pot/mug with infuser).
